Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly in talks to join Liverpool as a free agent this summer

Bournemouth center-back Lloyd Kelly has no plans to sign a contract extension with the Cherries and is already in advanced talks to join Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, according to Les Bons Conceil Du Sports editor Seb Ecrivain Foot.

The Englishman is out of contract when the current campaign ends, and he wants to leave as a free agent even though Bournemouth are hoping to convince him to stay.

Tottenham have been continually linked with Kelly since last summer when they wanted to add Eric Dier into the deal, and they were reportedly keeping tabs on him ahead of the January transfer window as a cover for the then-injured Micky van de Ven.

However, nothing materialized and it appears Liverpool have now moved ahead of them in the race for the 25-year-old.

Joel Matip could be on his way out of the Merseyside club when his contract expires at the end of the season, while the future of Virgil van Dijk with the Reds remains uncertain.

Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is a player Liverpool are also keeping tabs on, but Kelly’s versatility makes him a more attractive option.

The former Bristol City star can also play as a left-back, and having someone like Joe Gomez in their ranks will come in handy.

However, the managerial uncertainty as Jurgen Klopp prepares to leave Liverpool at the end of the season could give Spurs and other suitors an advantage in the race to recruit his services.

The next Reds boss may not be a fan of the Bournemouth star despite his qualities, and with more clubs expected to show interest once he is available for free, there could be an interesting battle for Kelly in England and beyond in the coming months.
