Liverpool favourites to sign £52m Brazilian with enormous potential

Liverpool continue to be linked to emerging young talents coming out of Brazil.

One of those players has been Sao Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo. The 20-year-old is coming through as one of the most promising defenders in South America.

And according to Brazilian outlet UOL, Liverpool are well aware of just how good Beraldo could be.

They claim that with the youngster coming onto the radar for selection to the Brazil national team, the Reds are now leading the race to sign him.

It’s said that although Beraldo could do with a little more experience before joining the likes of Alisson Becker in Fernando Diniz’s team, Liverpool ‘know very well’ the potential he has.

Over the past few months, Liverpool appear to have really ramped up their scouting efforts in South American.

As well constant links to Andre Trindade, the Reds have reportedly been looking at the likes of Gabriel Moscardo and Federico Redondo as well.

Although they’re yet to take the plunge and sign any of these bright young talents, you get the impression that one may not be too far away.

For a long time it had looked like Andre would be that man. But now, with links to the 22-year-old considerably cooling, Beraldo might just take that spot.

After all, Liverpool do seem to be searching for a left-sided centre-back to add to the squad. Unsurprisingly given the links, Beraldo fits that bill.

As UOL allude to, he is still perhaps a little raw and would need patience should he make the switch to Anfield.

But with whispers that Beraldo could soon be a full international, it would look like a smart kind of signing for Liverpool.

For the moment, there are no signs that Virgil van Dijk is slowing down anyway. As a result, you could see a world where Beraldo comes in and plays understudy to Virgil for a little time.

He won’t come cheap though, as such a burgeoning talent, the centre-back reportedly has a release clause of around £52m [Trivela]. While it’s hard to see Liverpool parting with that, it seems like they’re going to be right in the mix for Beraldo.
