‘Confirmed’: Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea target has just signed a new contract, he has a £48m release clause

Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that long-term Chelsea transfer target Luis Guillherme has just signed a new contract with his current club, Palmeiras.

He took to Twitter to state that his new deal has a £48m release clause included, with them preparing to sell him for that fee in the near future.

Guilherme has been the most recent wonderkid linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the future, after they made it their mission to invest in this area of the market.

Todd Boehly has overseen plenty of spending since taking over as Chelsea owner, however has not neglected looking to build to the future too.

It was reported that the Blues sent scouts last month to watch him play as they among a number of elite sides to be tracking the 17-year-old.

It was also claimed that Chelsea were actually leading the race to bring him in, which is perhaps not surprising when looking at their other transfer business.

Brazil has been a bit of a goldmine in recent months for the Blues, signing the likes of Deivid Washington and Andrey Santos to bolster their squad for the future.

Now, Romano has claimed they have learned their price for the deal.

He said: “Official, confirmed. Luiz Guilherme signs new long term deal until 2026 as €55m release clause is included.

“Bayern, Liverpool, Chelsea and more European top clubs have been following Luiz for long time.

“Club strategy to prepare future sale. Luiz turns 18 in February, scouted by European top clubs.”

It remains to be seen if the Blues feel that is a fair price, or if they look to make a lower offer and tempt the Brazilian side into an earlier sale.
