Agent claims £20m Tottenham target is 'not looking for a move to Arsenal'

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on £20 million-rated Club Brugge forward Andreas Skov Olsen but the Denmark international is not interested in a move to a Premier League like Manchester City or Arsenal.

At least, that is the view of Zouhair Essikal, an agent who represents a number of players currently contracted to Club Brugge.

Andres Skov Olsen has been a revelation since moving to Belgium from Bologna – Rangers missing out along the way – with 13 goals and three assists from just 20 games this season already.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked, per Het Nieuwsblad, sending scouts to watch the forward in action. Interestingly, Skov Olsen appeared to confirm Spurs’ interest a couple of months ago, though Essikal is not expecting to see the 23-year-old force his way out in the near future.

“I know that he turned down transfers to Germany and England (over the summer),” Essikal tells Football Time. “(Skov Olsen) would rather go back to Copenhagen to be with his friends. I know the club recently accepted a proposal from Germany, but he didn’t want to go.”

Skov Olsen has been likened to Liverpool star Mo Salah due to his penchant for wreaking havoc when drifting in from the right onto his trusty left boot. Essikal, however, sees plenty of similarities with one Eden Hazard too. Not just because of his footballing ability but because of his personality too.

“Skov Olsen is not a player who is looking for a move to Manchester City or Arsenal,” the agent adds. “He mainly wants to have fun on the pitch. A bit like Eden Hazard.”

‘Fun’ certainly isn’t in short supply when Skov Olsen is around. He has already exceeded his goals’ tally from the whole of 2022/23. Scoring with a brilliant long-range finish during last week’s 3-1 Europa Conference League victory at Swiss outfit Lugano.

Tottenham, Fabrizio Romano says, are on the lookout for another ‘Brennan Johnson-style’ signing. Geny Catamo, a talented young winger plying his trade at Sporting Lisbon, has also been linked.

“Look out for Andreas Skov Olsen from Club Brugge,” Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Denmark international and Spurs midfielder, told the Daily Mail before the Qatar World Cup. “He is an old school winger, Ryan Giggs-style.
