Report: Chelsea monitoring popular 22-year-old attacker this month, he's outscored Jude Bellingham this season

Chelsea scouts have been monitoring Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez this month.

That is according to a report from 90min.

They claim that Chelsea and Arsenal have both watched Santiago Gimenez in recent weeks. In fact, every major Premier League side has already scouted the Feyenoord centre-forward this season and been really impressed.

It is understood that the Eredivisie club are confident that they won’t lose their 22-year-old talisman in the January transfer window after setting a huge asking price. It’ going to take an Eredivisie-record sum to sell the frontman, with the current record £87million.

The report does add that Real Madrid are among the clubs to watch Gimenez, but he’s not viewed as a main target right now. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are set to be priced out of a move despite being big admirers.

We’re hearing more and more rumours that Mauricio Pochettino’s side may be in the market for a new striker.

Journalist Simon Phillips reported via his Substack this month that Lille centre-forward Jonathan David is being targeted by Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail said this morning that Chelsea have set their sights on Charlton’s young striker Miles Leaburn.

Gimenez’s record so far this season for Dutch side Feyenoord is outstanding, scoring 15 goals in 11 games across all competitions.

For context, he’s outscored Jude Bellingham by some distance so far. The Real Madrid and England superstar has 11 goals in 12 club appearances this campaign.

Gimenez has been scoring goals for fun since his move to European football.

We won’t be surprised if someone splashes the cash for the Mexico international soon.
