Liverpool transfer news as Jürgen Klopp 'willing to meet $32m clause' and André claim emerges

Liverpool made some really good signings in the summer in the form of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, while Wataru Endō could be an astute buy as more of a stop-gap.

But there remains more work to be done over the course of the next couple of transfer windows. In January, signing a player could provide a similar boost to Luis Díaz in 2022 and Cody Gakpo a year later.

In terms of positions, Liverpool could probably do with finding another center-back sooner rather than later, despite the introduction of Jarell Quansah and the talent of Luke Chambers. At the end of the season, Joël Matip will be out of contract.

Another midfielder would ideally be signed as well, with an elite holding player a clear priority for Liverpool after it failed to bring in Moisés Caicedo and Roméo Lavia, who both picked Chelsea, during the previous window.

Here is the verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, with a defensive midfielder linked again and a young forward also supposedly on Jürgen Klopp's radar.

Liverpool is willing to pay the $32m (£26m/€30m) release clause for Real Betis' teenage starlet Assane Diao, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, with the wonderkid starting to make a big splash.

The 18-year-old has only made four senior appearances for the La Liga side but he has scored three times in those games, including in the Europa League. Real Madrid and Barcelona have also inevitably been linked with making a move.

In a story that will just not go away, André continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool in January. The Reds do need a holding midfielder and perhaps the 22-year-old could be the answer mid-season.

According to 90Min, Liverpool has continued to watch André, including in the Copa Libertadores. That was the competition that Fluminense was desperate to keep its talent around for, and it will now face Boca Juniors in the final on November 4.
