Liverpool rival as Aurélien Tchouaméni eyed for Premier League transfer

Liverpool will be looking to strengthen its position in the top four this weekend, and further its claim as a title contender this season. The Reds face Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Sunday, when they’ll be aiming to continue their perfect return from the international break.

Jürgen Klopp’s side followed up the derby day win over Everton with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Toulouse in the Europa League. With a place in the last-16 looking a formality now, the Reds can focus their efforts on league matters.

Liverpool currently sits in fourth, just three points off current leaders Tottenham, and will be looking to take advantage of any slip-ups from its rivals as it aims to secure an immediate return to the Champions League. And it may have just been given a helping hand in that department.

One of the Reds’ rivals for the top four has just suffered a double blow after a turbulent week. Meanwhile, Arsenal looks to be setting its sights on a former Liverpool transfer target. Here, Liverpool.com takes a scan around the other big sides in the Premier League and around Europe to take a look at the news going on at the other clubs.

Arsenal is eyeing up Aurélien Tchouaméni as its number one transfer target in midfield next summer, according to Football Transfers. The report claims Mikel Arteta wants the French star to partner Declan Rice in order to push the England international further forward.

Tchouaméni has of course been linked with a move to Liverpool, with the Reds having missed out on his signature last year. With Thomas Partey looking unlikely to sign a new contract though, and Jorginho approaching 32, the Real Madrid star could be in demand from the Gunners.
