Liverpool expected to seal deal for 22-year-old midfielder before January window opens

Liverpool tried to sign Andre during the summer transfer window, but the 22-year-old ended up staying at Fluminense. Now, a report from TEAMtalk claims that the Reds are now hoping to sign him before the January transfer window opens.

The Merseyside club are looking to secure an agreement with the Brazilian club soon, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can iron out the details. The 22-year-old is highly rated in South America, and he has a big future ahead of him.

He could develop into a key player for Liverpool in the coming seasons. The Reds need to sign a quality defensive midfielder, and Andre certainly fits the profile. He will help shield the back four and break up the opposition attacks. His arrival will allow the creative players to operate with more freedom, and he would improve Liverpool going forward indirectly.

The young midfielder will be hoping to help Fluminense win the Copa Libertadores before leaving in January. The South American outfit will take on Boca Juniors in the final of the competition in November.

Liverpool tried to sign a quality defensive midfielder during the summer transfer window as well. Former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo was a target for the Premier League club, and they were prepared to pay a British transfer record sum for him.

However, the 21-year-old midfielder decided to join Chelsea, meaning Liverpool had to settle for the Japanese international Wataru Endo. The former VfB Stuttgart midfielder is in his thirties, and Liverpool should look to bring in a younger alternative with a higher ceiling.

Andre has all the attributes to develop into a top-class defensive midfielder and working under Jurgen Klopp will help him improve further. The midfielder certainly has the talent, and the Liverpool manager has a proven track record of nurturing young players.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for the player, and it would be a major step up in his career. He will look to establish himself as a key player in the Premier League and cement his place in the national team setup as well.
