Agent confirms Liverpool interest in player – Hints at potential January transfer, talks going on

Liverpool were in talks to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, before scrapping the idea to focus on their midfield rebuild.

That’s according to the player’s agent, Manuel Sierra, who has confirmed the transfer interest from Anfield in comments relayed by Bolavip.

Hincapie is one of the young rising defensive stars in the Bundesliga, and indeed Europe, having established himself since a move from Talleres in August 2021.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and he’s regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League since 2022, with Tottenham and Arsenal initially named as suitors.
They were replaced by Liverpool in the summer transfer window, with the Reds undergoing a rebuild following a disappointing campaign.
Three reports across August made it clear that Liverpool were interested in the centre-back, with the last making it clear than a completely immoral offer would be needed to get him out of Bayer Leverkusen.

That never happened as the Reds instead spent their money rebuilding a midfield that had been left short by the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

It now seems the deal was scrapped because of that, with Sierra confirming that talks were held across the summer.

Liverpool were interested in him, but at that time they chose to invest in the midfield,” he told Joaquín Saavedra from Fútbol Sin Casette.

“For January they are talking like other clubs, it will not be less than 50 million.”
