£89m Real Madrid player sends one-word message to Trent Alexander-Arnold after last night's England match

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has been praised by Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham after England win last night.

Alexander-Arnold was given a rare start by Gareth Southgate, and largely did well against Australia. The 25-year-old even completed the full 90 minutes, which doesn’t happen often for the Three Lions.

And after the game, the Liverpool right-back was the subject of an Instagram post by the in-form Bellingham.

‘Brother,” wrote the midfielder, sharing a picture of he and Trent arm-over-shoulder on the pitch post-game.

A hugging emoji as well as a star symbol added context to exactly what Bellingham thinks of the Reds vice-captain. What could have been.

Although it’s still slightly painful for Liverpool fans to see anything related to Bellingham, this is good to see.

The 20-year-old may have chosen to join Madrid over the Reds in a near-£89m move, but he’s still one of the top players on the planet.

Since joining the Spanish giants, Bellingham has been proving that over and over again. 10 goals in his first 10 games at the Bernabeu is pretty incredible going.

That the former Dortmund man rates Alexander-Arnold so highly just goes to show the kind of company he keeps.

Of course, Trent has no reason to feel inferior to Bellingham. He may not be one of the first names on the teamsheet for his country, as his mate Jude is, but he’s won everything there is to win in football.

Whereas Bellingham may go on to do the same, right now his trophy cabinet contains one lonely DFB Pokal.

The Liverpool lad on the other hand has a rather more extensive collection. Maybe you’ll get there one day, Jude. Maybe you won’t.
