Trent Alexander-Arnold misses out as Liverpool make eight changes made for West Ham

Trent Alexander-Arnold has lost the battle to be fit for Sunday's visit of West Ham United as Joe Gomez returns to the Liverpool team.

After Thursday's 3-1 win over Austrian side LASK in the Europa League, Jurgen Klopp makes eight changes in total as Joel Matip steps in for Ibrahima Konate at centre-back alongside captain Virgil van Dijk.

In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones all return as the Reds look to make it six straight wins in all competitions and close the gap on Manchester City to two points at the top of the Premier League table.

Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz keep their place up top as Mohamed Salah returns to the starting lineup after hi goalscoring cameo off the bench in Linz earlier this week. Alisson Becker returns in goal.

Alexander-Arnold had been rated as '50/50' when undergoing his individually tailored training session at the AXA Centre on Wednesday afternoon but misses out entirely as Gomez steps into the void on the right side of the back four.

Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch drop to the bench with Klopp alsoable to select Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota should an attacking change be required against David Moyes's side.

Liverpool: Alisson; Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

Subs: Kelleher, Endo, Konate, Gakpo, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Quansah.
