'Really good': Jurgen Klopp says one of his big-money signings is absolutely smashing it in training right now

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking ahead of the clash with West Ham and had some high praise for Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan striker is having a good impact this season when called upon. He was crucial in the win at Wolves and scored a brilliant brace at Newcastle a few weeks back.

And speaking about Nunez, Klopp admitted the striker has been excellent in training this year.

Speaking to the press ahead of the clash with the Hammers, Klopp chatted about a few of his players.

And after praising Jarrell Quansah, Klopp then moved onto Nunez and admitted the forward is playing with a real confidence right now in training.

“He’s good, really good. He’s in a really good moment, enjoys his game a lot in the moment and that is fine. You have only a problem as a striker when you don’t have any chances. He has chances, opportunities, [and] obviously it is not too long ago he scored the two most incredible goals I saw for a long, long time against Newcastle, it was absolutely insane. Played a super game against Aston Villa then it was the international break, had there a little bit of muscle issue – said he is fine but we read, obviously, what [Uruguay coach Marcelo] Bielsa said, then he had as well very intense travelling so we decided not to start him [at Molineux] but he came on and had a massive impact on the game,” Klopp said.

“So, he is in a good moment, you see that in training. It’s not important in the moment if he scores already or not: for a striker, it’s important that in these moments where you don’t score but play well, you understand it right and then just keep going and everything will fall in place anyway.”

Nunez will be hoping to get the nod this weekend and continue his good form.

There is definitely something about Darwin Nunez this season that bodes well for Liverpool.

He seems a bit more rounded in terms of some of his play up top and while that rawness is still evident in his game, he showed at Newcastle how good he can be with that bit of composure as well.

Nunez could be in for a huge season here and if he can keep playing well and scoring goals, a title push might not be out of the question.
