'Lacked the aggression': Pundit thinks 24-year-old Liverpool player is missing something vs LASK

Steve Sidwell has claimed that Darwin Nunez is lacking his aggressive edge for Liverpool tonight against LASK.

Speaking on TNT Sports, the pundit made the assumption that the 24-year-old striker should have tried harder to challenge the LASK defence, with Nunez having Liverpool’s best chance of the opening half.

The Uruguay international saw a point-blank header expertly saved by LASK keeper Tobias Lawal, and Nunez will no doubt be annoyed about missing such an easy chance.

Given Nunez’s form this season, the forward knows he should have done better in the opening half, with Liverpool going into the break against LASK a goal down.

And Sidwell believes that the striker should have shown more fight and desire, with the pundit noting that Nunez’s movement was all wrong in the play.

Sidwell said: “It’s a unbelievable save, but I can’t help but feel Darwin Nunez lacked the aggression there to get his weight on the ball rather than getting there himself first.”

It’s been a stressful game for Liverpool in Linz, with the likes of Nunez struggling to break down the Austria Bundesliga side in their UEFA Europa League opener.

However, the forward has responded well, with Nunez scoring from the spot to put Liverpool back on level terms against LASK.

Indeed, the game would be a different one had Nunez put away his chance in the first half, yet the striker has done well to earn his way back into the good books with a penalty goal.
