Report: Chelsea could now use Andrey Santos in swap deal to get £50m player

Chelsea could now use Andrey Santos in a bid to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

That is according to the Daily Mail’s Transfer Confidential email (sign-up link here).

So, what is the situation involving Andrey Santos and Brennan Johnson? Let’s take a look..

Well – before you start to panic – it would not be a permanent exit for the Brazilian.

Chelsea only signed Santos from Vasco da Gama in January for a sum of £18m, and the Blues have no plans to get rid of him for good.

However, those at Stamford Bridge are considering a loan move for the South American, mainly due to the fact it could help Chelsea sign Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

The Daily Mail believe Chelsea have been considering a move for the Wales international for weeks now.

Nottingham Forest value the 22-year-old at £50m, although Chelsea are hoping that a loan offering will lower that asking price.

Steve Cooper is keen to bring new central midfielders to the City Ground, so those on the recruitment team at Stamford Bridge are considering a player-plus-cash bid including Santos on loan, to sign Johnson permanently.

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to hand Santos any action in the Premier League this season after two games – following the arrivals of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, his chances of playing time have only decreased.

Therefore, Chelsea need to find a loan move to help the Brazil Under-19 international continue his development, and with Pochettino also in need of a new forward, Nottingham Forest could prove to be a major help for the Blues if they entertain this offering.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
