£62m player has now decided he would rather join Liverpool than Tottenham before Friday

Ansu Fati has decided that he’d rather join Liverpool, as Tottenham Hotspur try to sign him from Barcelona.

Fati has reportedly entered Liverpool’s radar as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. With Mo’s future still unclear, the Reds are supposedly taking a look at the 20-year-old.

But according to SPORT, a deal to bring Fati to Anfield is ‘complicated.’ The only way the Spain international is claimed to be likely to end up at Liverpool is if Salah is indeed sold.

Such complications are not a factor for Spurs, who are reportedly pushing to take Fati on-loan. Barca are said to be open to such a transfer, and are putting pressure on the player to accept the deal.

But Fati is claimed to be standing firm so far. Reluctant to leave Barca at all, the £62m-rated forward would reportedly rather join a ‘top’ team if he is forced to leave.

Liverpool are said to be one of those interesting the youngster, with Atletico Madrid also in his thinking.

But with Barca supposedly trying to make room for the signing of Joao Felix, they want to get Fati out as quickly as they can. He may not have much choice.

What a sad downfall Fati has had at Barcelona. And what a shame that the Catalan club are once again trying to force players out to bring yet more in.

Joao Felix may well be a good signing for them, but Fati is Barca through and through.

Having burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old and then taken Lionel Messi’s No.10 shirt, the Spain international looked set for a huge future at the Camp Nou.

There is still a player in there, that’s for sure. And you certainly can’t write any player off aged just 20. It isn’t often you see players come back to their true level having been so beset by issues, though.

As a result, we’d probably steer clear of Fati. In the event that Liverpool do need to replace Salah, he’s an interesting option. But in that scenario the Reds would have an ‘unbelievable’ amount of money to spend. They should aim higher.

So, unless Atletico pull their fingers out for Fati, it looks like he may well end up at Spurs. Sorry, Ansu.
